Volkan Öge

Batesmotelpro

Volkan is Co-Founder of Batesmotelpro which produces viral videos and online video content since 2006.

I was born on November 3rd, 1982 in Istanbul, into a family of engineers; and this in turn led me to become an engineer as well. In 2004, I received my bachelors in Civil Engineering from Istanbul Technical University after which I started to work at a construction company while pursuing masters in the same faculty. I received my MSc degree in 2006 and continued to work at various construction sites including road construction and maintenance, drains, winter services, excavations and villa construction. Simultaneously, I made a hobby of video shooting and enjoyed it so much that I set up a non-professional online video production team with the name of “Batesmotelpro”. Upon the financial crisis that broke out in the construction sector in 2009, I left my job and started to concentrate primarily on my video works.

In time, thanks to Youtube, people started to learn about us and we started getting attention. We even managed to create one of the first viral ad projects of Turkey together with the renown digital marketing agency, 41?29! Later on, I was offered a job at this agency and started to work as a copywriter. Beside my new job, I continued to work with Batesmotelpro producing viral ads for various brands. I was mostly involved in copywriting of the projects but also acting when required. We then started to shoot videos for TV shows as well. We also put up our own talk-show on TV. We created a web serial called Patlak Sokaklar which was originally a viral project produced for Yedigün brand and later on turned out to be a cinema film produced with ANS film Production Company. I was the scriptwriter of the film where I also played a key role. In 2013, I resigned from my job at the 41?29! to devote my entire work hours to Batesmotelpro.

Today, Batesmotelpro is a registered online video producer established in 2013 where I am in the capacity of a founding partner, a copywriter and an actor.
